After losing a dear friend to her battle with breast cancer, the "Moving Forward" organization was founded in Feb 2004 to honor Lynn Buckley, Lakeville resident, supermom of two boys, wonder wife, corporate success, and most importantly friend and confidant to anyone who had the honor of gracing her presence.  It was Lynn's favorite expression...she would say..."moving forward" , in other words, lets not dwell on the past, but instead focus on the future and change the things she had control of.  This is what she did everday, always directing away from her cancer and facing the challenge at hand with strength and optimism!  She wanted desperately to change the breast cancer statistics and prior to her passing, she expressed this wish clearly and emphatically!

In May of 2004, just a few months after Lynn's departure, the "Moving Forward for Lynn Buckley Memorial Walk" began.  I  believe this was a movement that Lynn orchestrated herself to help all of us who were touched by her tragedy to heal.  We raised over $18,000 for Lynn's rare form of breast cancer which proved an amazing task for our little town of Lakeville but all the while we got to experience the marvel of love and community together to heal the wounds that life can relinquish...and I believe that this was part of her wish!  And it felt good!  Good to be a part of something larger than ourselves and to experience a true sense of affinity!

Since then, "Moving Forward" has been involved with several other fundraising opportunies.  Most of which were smaller in nature and assisted families enduring hardship.  Two years ago I believe that Lynn herself connected me to somebody that changed my life forever!  Lexie Williams, 11 years old and a brain tumor survivor.  Need I say more?  She is the kind of person that tries to make a difference everyday spreading love, joy, and mostly inspiration to anyone who has ever had the chance to grace her courage!  It is this same sense of vitality that she shares with Lynn's spirit and she is helping to change the world.

"Moving Forward" has adopted Lexie in a sense.  We share the common interest of "making a difference" and so we have fused together to "Move Forward" with purpose and intent just the way Lynn would have done herself.  Thank you all for your interest, hope to see you on Challenge night.
